Eyeglasses Stay in Focus

Researchers
at UA Optical Sciences Center say the glasses will provide 20/20
vision |
One
of the minor irritations of getting older is Presbyopia, a loss of
flexibility of the lens inside the eye. This leads to wearing
bifocals, or even trifocals. Optical scientists at the University of
Arizona (UA) believe they can make one pair of glasses do the work
of two or three pairs by creating lenses that change focus depending
upon where a person looks. One idea uses a camera-like range-finding
system. It sends electrical impulses that change the way light
focuses as it moves through different areas of each lens. The
glasses could be available as early as 2005. |
