IntelliMat big hit for Egg Factory
By Duncan Adams
A patented digital display technology dreamed up by
folks at the Egg Factory in Roanoke is getting a Madison
Avenue workout.
IntelliMat is a portable, half-inch-thick, wireless
floor display that offers shoppers TV-quality advertisements.
The computer-tied digital technology can also be interactive.
The Sony Style Store at 550 Madison Ave. in New York
City has put an IntelliMat to work, according to a
news release from the Egg Factory.
In the release, Christine Belich, executive creative
director for Sony Style, said IntelliMat's "crisp
images, color and sound" has "been quite
a novelty and traffic-stopper." The mat went online
June 7 and will exit the Sony store Saturday. It has
been field-tested also at two Kroger grocery stores
and a nursing home.
The Egg Factory's focus is the creation of innovations
it can sell or license to Fortune 500 companies and
private equity firms for commercialization. It has
relationships with Johnson & Johnson, Avery Dennison
and Clorox for products under development but has not
found a partner yet for IntelliMat.
